Easy 4 Minute Rice - Instant Pot Recipe

This is one of my go-to recipes. It is insanely easy and I don't have to do any rice babysitting. I tried to cook rice in a pot but burn it every time. I get distracted and think I can do other things while cooking rice on the stove. Nope! But YES, I can with my Instant Pot (I have the six quart instant pot). White Long Grain rice and Basmati rice is what I mainly cook.

Depending on if the rice will be part of the main meal or a side dish I will either do the smaller amount or the larger amount.

Smaller amount recipe:

1 cup of Long Grain White rice or Basmati rice

1 1/4 cups of water or broth or vegetable or chicken stock

Larger amount recipe:

2 cup of Long Grain White rice or Basmati rice

2 1/2 cups of water or broth or vegetable or chicken stock

salt to taste

seasons optional

Put the rice, water (or other liquids), salt and seasonings (if applicable) in the Instant Pot, stir so all rice is covered by the liquid and the seasonings are mixed evenly.

Put the top on and turn it to lock. It should make a noise. Sometimes my rubber seal pulls away and I have to press it in or the top won't lock. See short video clip:

Press the button "Pressure Cook" once and it will light up "Normal" and "High"

Adjust the time to 4 minutes.

Make sure the steam release knob is turned to the left to keep the pressure.

Let it reach pressure, then cook for 4 minutes and then after it beeps a bunch, notifying it is finished cooking, don't touch anything and let it slow release 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes, very carefully (it's very hot) turn the steam release knob to let the steam and let the pressure out. As soon as the pressure indicator drops, it is ok to open the instant pot. Beeee careful, use a oven mitt to remove the pot. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve.
